In line with Summer and perhaps a fun rainy day activity to plan ahead for or just want to make time for, we have found some cool, inexpensive DIY Mirrors that you can craft for your home, from home!

Here’s what you will need:

  • The 12-inch frame (circle or square is up to you!)
  • 18-inch frame
  • 250 spoons  ** break the handle off of the spoon and sand these to prep
  • Hot glue gun
  • Acrylic paint
  • Primer
  • Cardstock backing
  • Wall mounting hanger
  • Mirror

Step One:

Lay your WOODEN WREATH FRAMES (12-20” – your choice) and use the handle of the spoons to hot glue the inner to the outer ring.

THEN, lay your card stock and glue over the top of this the whole way around so it has a flat surface.

No place better to start than the beginning which is….wherever along the outer edge you wish!  Hot glue and layer upon layer until next month…cause it may take you that long (i gave up at this stage so have taken these lovely photos from Pinterest until next month when we share our completed home version)

Step Three:

We have been recommended to avoid wasting time spray painting and take the time to hand paint each spoon (in this case, the Pinterest lady made a chrysanthemum so they were “petals”)   Remember to prime first!

Now all you need to do is hot glue your mirror to the back and your mounting fixtures for hanging (nice thing is, it’s quite light!)

Of course, you can always make smaller versions and if you’re not into this concept, well here are some other great images of mirror frames that can be easily crafted using your summer beach finds, buttons from the drawer, and the land of missing pieces or an array of collected shells, gems, well — anything goes!
